Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer and Privacy Officer

Betsy Wade, MPH, CHC, CNA, joined Signature HealthCARE in May 2017 as Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer and Privacy Officer.
She previously was Vice President and Corporate Responsibility Officer for Catholic Health Initiatives and oversaw compliance for its KentuckyOne Health division, where she had started with Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services in 2002. Prior to that she was Privacy Officer for University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Betsy has more than 20 years of compliance experience in academic medical centers, acute care settings, critical access hospitals, inpatient rehab facilities, and behavioral health, long term care, home health, clinically integrated networks, accountable care organizations, pharmacy, research and physician practices. She also has experience with mergers and acquisition, divestitures and CIAs.
In 2016, Betsy completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Compliance Academy. Organized by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington. The FBI Compliance Academy covered: Understanding White Collar Criminals, Office of Integrity and Compliance’s Ethics and Compliance Program, Economic Espionage, Emerging Money Laundering Trends, Cyber Matters and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Betsy has been a member of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) Basic Compliance Academy faculty since 2018. She has taught on risk assessments, conflicts of interest and privacy. She has been an adjunct faculty member for the Arizona State University Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation Bachelor of Science in Health Care Compliance and Regulations program since January 2021. She has taught on data privacy and security, corrective action plans, risk assessments and Corporate Integrity Agreements.
She is the author of two chapters of HCCA’s recently published Complete Healthcare Compliance Manual. The chapters focused on the CMS Open Payments Database and Conflicts of Interest. She also has served as the columnist for HCCA’s Compliance Today magazine since March 2021.
In addition, she is an active member of HCCA and the Post-Acute Compliance Consortium. She also served as a compliance expert on the Passport Health Plan Board Audit and Compliance Committee from 2011 to 2019. She was board chair of Girls on the Run Louisville from 2016 to 2017 and also served on the Women 4 Women and Botanica boards.
Betsy received her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health in 2005 and her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from UK in 1991.
